Excellent Value for Money August 26, 2010 Viswanath Yanamalachintala (Irving, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Awesome Lens and I would strongly recommend for any one on the lookout for just One Lens (permanently mounted) on your Nikon DSLR. No wonder why many users gave it a 5 star.
AF stops working, camera stops recognizing the lens August 3, 2010 Vikram 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Looks and feels good, great zoom. However, issue is that the auto focus stops working, and the only way to reset it is to turn off the camera, and reset the lens. I don't know if this is an issue with the Tamron lenses, or I got a bad lens. Also, during the shoot camera stops recognizing the lens all together. dismounting and mounting the lens back would fix the problem for some more shots.
Returned the lens.
tamron's 18-250MM Model A18 July 13, 2010 Gerald J. Ruglio 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read several reviews before purchasing this lens. They were all positive so I bought the lens to get a little more reach than the 18-135MM Nikon that I normally have on my camera. It appears to be well made, was fairly light for the range and looked to be just what I wanted. After about a dozen shots the Auto-focus quit working and I had to use the manual focus. My 18-135MM Nikon lens worked fine when I put it back on the camera body so I know it's the lens that went bad. I had to send the lens back to Tamron for service but I missed several oppertunities for some very nice shots on vacation because of the problem with the lens.
For the money I love it June 29, 2010 Gregory G. Alexander (Delaware) For the Money this is the best investment I have made for some time for my Nikon D70
I would have liked to buy an antivibration lens, and was looking at a Nikor 18-200mm VR for $600 plus, but for the money this lens works just fine, I did find when at full zoom it could not focus in on subject with no contrast, but I could compensate by moving it slightly in on a subject with some contrast then move it back. This did the trick and something I can live with. The construction is solid and the size and weight are both impressive. It does focus well and fast enough for me. The internal motor does chirp slightly but that is the nature of this lens motor, and it is OK for me, as long as it works. The 6 year warrantee helps. I have been using a Nikor 18-70mm lens, and a Nikor 28-200mm lens. Both to do what this lens does. The 28-200mm lens weighs about 1.8 pounds where as this lens only weighs 15.8 onces. A note, I am no professional, far from it. I am a recreational user. I use this camera when traveling, on vacation and at family functions, but found it to make life easier, and feel to date it will do exactly what I want. Maybe some day I will go for the Tamsron 18-270 anti vibration lens, but again for the $299.00 I spent on this lens, well worth it.
Lens Review of Tamron AF 18-250mm June 22, 2010 Edmund Slezak (Glen Burnie, Md USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this lens right before I left for an African camera safari. It proved to be the perfect lens for the trip.
It was easy to use, the automatic focus was fast, and the zoom was the right amount for my needs. Pictures were clear
even with off-hand jiggle. I used it on a D40X Nikon.
